Several reports have recently pointed to the growth of e-procurement. In the latest SPG Media Research* report “Global E-procurement”, the authors found that “approximately 90% of businesses worldwide are now involved in some form of e-procurement.” The UK based research firm’s study is based on findings from the Forbes top 2000 and reveals multi-billion dollar cost savings through using E-procurement systems.

From the IBX perspective, our transaction volume indicates that the recent reports from SPG Media Research and AMR Research (see news article) indeed are reliable. Our transaction volume (business documents) has increased by 66% from 2006. During the same period the number of purchase orders has increased by 33%.

So is e-procurement usage finally tipping the scale? All signs are pointing in that direction.
